About: Hello! Has your learner been identified as needing specialised support in school? And/ or does your child have an Individualised Education/ Learning Program? Are you interested in *OnLine* Itinerant Special Education support? I have over 25 years teaching experience, and have been Ontario (Canada) College of Teachers qualified and an Occasional (read: "Supply") Teacher for the Toronto District School Board since 2001. I am qualified in Primary, Middle and High school (English & Drama) but have literally taught every subject K - 8. Where I excel however, is Special Education support. I predominantly work in Intensive Support Programs (in Toronto this means the students are in small groups with additional adult support for their learning and/ or behaviour) with young people who are neurodiverse. In my other job I work with the Blind/ partially sighted community and other Disability-Identified or Deaf communities generally in the arts sector. I am a Disability Justice Advocate. I am not interested in teaching full-time but if anyone is interested in additional *online* support for their learners, please send me a message. If needed/ wanted, I am happy to work with the teacher your pod hires. And since I'm working remotely, I am very happy and willing to support anyone who needs it. I'm currently riding out Covid in Nova Scotia, but I'm usually based in Toronto (as you likely surmised). I also work closely with a Child & Youth Worker (they specialise in behaviour/ social/ emotional strategies) who is not sure if she'll be going back this year. I might also be interested in teaching a short unit about Disability Justice if it works for any of your curriculum choices! Good luck and stay safe out there, everyone!
